Nitin Gadkari Approves ₹787.33 Crore for Widening of NH-62 in Rajasthan

New Delhi, March 24, 2025 – In a significant boost to Rajasthan’s road infrastructure, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has approved the widening of an 87.63 km stretch of NH-62 from Nagaur Bypass to Netra Village into a 4-lane highway with paved shoulders. The project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹787.33 crore, aims to enhance connectivity and road safety in the region.

Key Highlights of the Project
• The Nagaur-Khimsar-Soyla-Netra section (87 km) is currently a 2-lane highway with paved shoulders, while the Netra to Mandore (Jodhpur) section is already 4-lane.
• With average daily traffic exceeding 16,000 Passenger Car Units (PCU), the widening will reduce congestion and improve road safety.
• A 6.55 km-long bypass will be constructed near Bawdi town to ease traffic flow.

Boost to Regional Development

The upgraded highway will significantly benefit key industries in the region:
• Lime mining areas in Khimsar
• Cement industries in Nagaur district
• Overall economic development through improved logistics and connectivity

This infrastructure push aligns with the government’s vision of modernizing national highways and promoting seamless transportation across states. The project is expected to enhance trade, reduce travel time, and improve road safety for commuters.
