Nitin Gadkari Approves Rs 1271 Crore Highway Upgradation Project in Gujarat

Date:

Gujarat, April 7:

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has approved the upgradation of the 119.50 km long Porbandar-Bhanvad-Jam Jodhpur-Kalavad section of National Highway-151K in Gujarat. The project, estimated at a cost of Rs 1271.02 crore, will cover Porbandar, Jamnagar, and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts.

The highway stretch, which begins at NH-51 near Porbandar and ends at NH-927D near Kalavad, will be upgraded to a 2-lane road with paved shoulders. NH-151K serves as a vital connector between three major highways — Porbandar-Khambhalia (NH-927K), Junagadh-Jamnagar (NH-927D), and Rajkot-Porbandar (NH-27) — enhancing inter-district and regional connectivity in the Saurashtra region.

The project will include the construction of 8 major bridges, 10 bypasses, and several grade-separated structures, aimed at improving traffic flow, reducing travel time, and boosting economic development in the region.

This development marks a significant step in the Centre’s ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and connectivity across Gujarat.
