In a major boost to India’s naval capabilities, India and France are set to formalize a landmark agreement worth ₹63,000 crore for the purchase of 26 Rafale Marine combat aircraft. The deal, expected to be signed in Delhi, marks a significant deepening of the strategic defense partnership between the two nations.
The Rafale Marine jets, designed specifically for carrier-based operations, will enhance the Indian Navy’s operational readiness and strengthen its ability to project power across the Indo-Pacific region. Sources indicate that the procurement will include associated equipment, weaponry, training, and logistical support packages.
This deal follows extensive negotiations between Dassault Aviation, the French manufacturer of the Rafale jets, and Indian defense authorities. It underscores India’s ongoing efforts to modernize its armed forces amid evolving regional security challenges.
Senior government officials from both countries are expected to attend the signing ceremony, which will also showcase India and France’s commitment to deeper defense and strategic cooperation.
The first batch of Rafale Marine aircraft is likely to be delivered within three years, with operational deployment anticipated soon after.
