New Delhi: In a landmark achievement in India’s fight against left-wing extremism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a decisive breakthrough in the nation’s mission for a Naxal-Free Bharat, as security forces neutralised 31 top Naxal operatives in the Kurraguttalu Hills (KGH), located on the Chhattisgarh–Telangana border. This marks the largest-ever anti-Naxal operation in the country’s history.

“The hill on which the red terror once reigned, today the Tricolour flies proudly,” Shah declared, celebrating the victory over a site that long served as the unified headquarters for Naxal outfits like PLGA Battalion 1, DKSZC, TSC, and CRC.

The Kurraguttalu Hills, previously a strategic command and training base for extremist groups, witnessed a swift and coordinated assault by Indian security forces, culminating in just 21 days. The operation, conducted in challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions, saw zero casualties among the Indian forces — a testament to their tactical precision and exceptional bravery.

Shah lauded the efforts of the CRPF, Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG) for their “courage and determination” in executing the mission.

“Our brave soldiers have scripted history. The entire nation is proud of their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to peace,” Shah said.

The success of the KGH operation is seen as a major milestone in the ongoing counter-insurgency strategy led by the Narendra Modi Government, which has intensified efforts to dismantle Naxal infrastructure and restore governance in previously inaccessible regions.

Shah reaffirmed the government’s pledge to completely eradicate the Naxal menace:

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are determined to root out Naxalism. I once again assure the countrymen that India will be Naxal-free by 31 March 2026.”

The operation has been widely hailed as a turning point in India’s decades-long internal security challenge, and is expected to significantly weaken the operational and morale capacities of Naxal outfits across the Red Corridor.
