Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal today raised the demand for international status for Raipur airport during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha. He also urged the central government to expand air services in major cities of Chhattisgarh, including Bilaspur, Raigarh, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur.
Agrawal highlighted that Chhattisgarh is emerging as a key industrial, economic, and cultural hub of the country. The state is home to major industries such as BALCO, Jindal, Bhilai Steel Plant, Hindalco, NMDC, and NTPC. However, the lack of international flights is hindering investment, trade, and business opportunities in the region.
Key Demands:
• Upgrade Raipur’s Swami Vivekananda Airport to international status.
• Enhance domestic air connectivity to boost travel and trade.
• Expand air services to Bilaspur, Raigarh, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur for better regional connectivity.
Agrawal emphasized that improving air connectivity will benefit citizens, attract global investments, and give a new dimension to Chhattisgarh’s economic growth. His appeal aims to position the state as a leading business and tourism destination in India.
