New Delhi –
In a major crackdown on corruption within law enforcement, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Head Constable and a Constable of Delhi Police, posted at Police Station Sagarpur, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh.
A case was registered by the CBI on March 26, 2025, following a complaint alleging that the two officials demanded Rs 5 lakh from the complainant to avoid implicating him in a false NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reportedly reduced to Rs 3 lakh.
Acting swiftly, the CBI laid a trap and caught the two policemen red-handed while accepting Rs 2.5 lakh from the complainant. Both accused were immediately taken into custody.
The operation highlights the CBI’s continued commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring accountability within public institutions. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
