Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the efforts of individuals and organizations working towards eliminating tuberculosis (TB) in India. In a statement, he praised the growing grassroots momentum of the campaign, emphasizing its role in ensuring a healthier nation.

“I compliment all those who are strengthening the fight against TB and contributing to a TB Mukt Bharat. It is noteworthy how this effort is gaining momentum at the grassroots level, thus ensuring a healthier India,” PM Modi said.

India has been actively pursuing the goal of eradicating TB by 2025, five years ahead of the global target set by the World Health Organization. Government initiatives like the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, which provides nutritional support to TB patients, and the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, encouraging community participation, have played a significant role in this mission.

Health experts have welcomed the Prime Minister’s recognition of grassroots efforts, highlighting that community-driven programs, better diagnostics, and enhanced treatment accessibility are key to achieving a TB-free India.

With sustained government support and public participation, India continues its determined march toward eradicating tuberculosis, a disease that has long been a public health challenge in the country.
