New Delhi, July 26 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorating India’s victory over Pakistani intruders in the Kargil War of 1999.
In a message shared today, the Prime Minister said, “Heartfelt greetings to the countrymen on Kargil Vijay Diwas. This occasion reminds us of the unparalleled courage and valor of those brave sons of Mother India who dedicated their lives to protect the nation’s pride. Their passion to sacrifice everything for the motherland will continue to inspire every generation. Jai Hind!”
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed annually on July 26 to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Indian Armed Forces during Operation Vijay, which led to the recapturing of strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu & Kashmir.
Leaders across the country, along with citizens, paid homage to the fallen heroes, with ceremonies held at India Gate, Dras War Memorial, and various military establishments.
The day stands as a solemn reminder of the courage, patriotism, and selfless service of the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.
