New Delhi, May 3, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a joint press meet alongside President João Lourenço of Angola, marking a significant step in strengthening India-Angola bilateral relations. The two leaders met in New Delhi to discuss deepening cooperation in areas including energy, trade, defense, and technology.
During the press briefing, PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to expanding its engagement with African nations and recognized Angola as a key partner in the region. “President Lourenço’s visit reflects our shared commitment to a stronger and more dynamic India-Angola relationship. Together, we aim to enhance cooperation across sectors that can benefit our people,” he said.
President Lourenço, in his remarks, expressed appreciation for India’s growing global leadership and acknowledged the longstanding historical ties between the two countries. He also invited Indian businesses to invest in Angola’s infrastructure, agriculture, and oil sectors, highlighting the country’s strategic role in Africa.
The leaders signed multiple agreements focused on renewable energy collaboration, capacity building, and cultural exchange. A special India-Angola business forum was also announced, set to be launched later this year to facilitate private sector partnerships.
