Temporary Suspension of Civil Flight Operations at 32 Airports Across Northern and Western India

New Delhi, May 10, 2025 — The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced the temporary suspension of all civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India due to operational reasons. The suspension is effective from May 9 to May 14, 2025, and will last until 05:29 IST on May 15, 2025.

The decision was communicated through a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by the AAI and relevant aviation authorities. The affected airports include:

Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.

In addition to airport closures, the AAI has also temporarily suspended operations on 25 Air Traffic Service (ATS) route segments within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs). According to NOTAM G0555/25 (which supersedes G0525/25), these routes will remain unavailable from ground level to unlimited altitude until 23:59 UTC on May 14, 2025 (equivalent to 05:29 IST on May 15, 2025).

Airlines and flight operators have been advised to use alternate routing options and coordinate with respective Air Traffic Control (ATC) units to ensure minimal disruption and continued safety of operations.

Authorities have assured passengers that all measures are being taken to manage the closure efficiently and mitigate the impact on flight schedules.
